First time appointment at Voodou, booked in advance for an updo. Upon arrival shown over to a chair in the salon, staff member was a friendly young girl, offered a drink and to take my coat. She asked what I wanted showed her my inspiration picture (ginger hair pony tail in added photos) stated I did not know whether she did updos often but would like something similar if she was able to. At this point she stated it would look great and she was excited. Stylist began by using a fine tooth comb and a large amount of hairspray to scrape my hair back and do some back combing to the crown. She put this into what she described as a rough guide of a ponytail and asked if I was happy with the placement of it. Let her know I would like it to be place higher so there would be more hair volume visible from the front. At this moment she stated she needed to get some hair gel from the back and left. I was left alone in the chair for about five minutes whilst she was In the back, when she came back over she quickly stated that someone else would be over to do my hair shortly but gave no other explanation. A moment later another lady came over also very friendly and I showed her the same inspiration picture she was positive about it and gave the impression it would be easily achievable. Once again I tried to explain I was only hoping for it to be similar. Whilst the second stylist was completing my hair, I did have to ask for my parting to be straightened, for which I felt embarrassed to have to do as this was the second stylist helping to do my hair, however it was zig zagging backwards. As she was fixing this a third stylist came over and told her that her fringe trim had arrived and was ready any waiting for her. At this point my hair was in a ponytail, back combed with no smoothing and had yet to be curled. As a result I felt my hair was rushed in order for the second stylist to get back to her original schedule of clients for the day and I was unable to ask for any other changes. Overall I feel that the salon rushed my hair appointment, left me feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed and with a subpar updo. There was lots of backcombing completed to provide lots of volume as I do like a big updo however there was no attempt to smooth over the top of the hair, with for example a boar bristle brush and as a result the top of my head looked as what only can be described as a birds nest. The curls also did not hold up, I walked from the salon to the municipal hotel roughly 15 minutes away on a dry slightly windy day and the curls had dropped out within the hour. I appreciate the stylist asked whether I liked it before I left and I stated it was lovely however as her next appointment had arrived (and this had been made very clear to me that she was waiting) and I had already taken a second stylist away from the team I felt too embarrassed to be able to say anything, this is my own fault however given I had been there 45 minutes out of the hour appointment and the next client was waiting I did not feel there was anything that could have been done to rectify my hair beyond completely redoing it and changing the style. At this point I quite possibly might have needed my hair washing due to the amount of hairspray. I feel that the stylists should have been upfront and honest to me about what they could achieve I would have been very happy with something they felt more comfortable with even if it had just been down and curled, I felt I offered both stylists this opportunity however neither were upfront and honest about their skill set or what they were comfortable doing in relation to updos. I definitely would not be recommending this salon as somewhere to come and get an updo and would in future rather attempt to do my own at home. Really unfortunate experience, given two stars as I regret I was unable to be honest about how I felt at the time. Won’t be returning for any other hair appointments.

Chloe did a fantastic job at fixing a botched at-home red box dye, using a colour melt at my roots and balayage to create the perfect blended red that was identical to my inspo pics. She was super friendly and professional the whole way through, and did a fantastic job with my cut and style. She also recommended me plenty of products and haircare to help maintain my hair health and keep the colour vibrant. I would 100% recommend.

got my hair dyed here a few months ago. i made staff aware before hand that my hair was box dyed black and they said it would be fine and that the colour i wanted was achievable. i asked for fully navy blue and payed for a full dye treatment (around £150) my hair ended up no where near the colour i wanted and the colour leaked completely onto my skin. i realised while washing my hair a few days later that there was still dye left in my hair and that it hadn't been washed out properly; multiple items of clothing ended up stained blue and completely ruined due to the amount it leaked. my hair was only visiblely blue under harsh white lighting and the colour faded extremely fast even with proper care. i went back and complained after my whole neck face and back had been stained blue and i was given a bottle of colour stain remover and my hair was washed to remove remaining dye. i would not recommend going here if you want to dye your hair.

I went to Hayley for a calico hair colour and she was incredible! I booked a consultation first as I’d never bleached my hair before, and wanted advice on what would suit me and have time to speak through my jumbled ideas to form a plan. Hayley explained everything, boosted my confidence and I have come out with perfectly dyed calico hair and a styled hair cut that has made me more confident than I could imagine! I would definitely recommend and I’ve joined the colour club to become a consistent client 🧡

I have been a few times and always have Chloe as my stylist. She is friendly, approachable and nothing is too much trouble. She is an excellent stylist. She always listens to how I would like my hair done. I came to see Chloe today after a long period of being unwell and I left feeling absolutely amazing! Thank you Chloe.
